Who are the Portage SSAs and what do they do? The Service and Support Administrators (SSAs) serve as the gateway to services through the Portage County Board of Developmental Disabilities. They guide persons seeking services. The SSAs assess individual needs, develop an Individual Service Plan to address identified needs, arrange for services and supports; and monitor the provision of those services. SSAs help individuals with disabilities and families to navigate the DD system by providing information on resources available through other agencies, such as Social Security, Medicaid, and other local resources. They are advocates for individuals with disabilities and families to help ensure that their needs are met in all facets of life. All SSAs are required to complete training and ongoing professional growth and are certified by the Ohio Department of Developmental Disabilities.
